DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Geologist to be based in our Boston,
Massachusetts Office Location. This is part-time variable position
within our Environmental Planning & Permitting Department will work
with an existing team to help manage a variety of public sector and
private sector projects with oversight from senior managers,
scientists, engineers and technical experts.The Geologist will
support a diverse range of environmental projects in the areas of
waste site cleanup, characterization and management of contaminated
soils and groundwater, and support for construction and
redevelopment of public infrastructure projects. Candidate must
have current OSHA 40 HAZWOPER and MBTA ROW Safety Training.The
ideal candidate will have experience working with Massachusetts
environmental regulations (MCP, MAWPA, etc.), a strong focus on
health and safety, be detail orientated, have excellent written and
verbal communication skills, be able to work independently, and
will be capable of working collaboratively in a high-performance
team.Responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited
to, the following:Health and safety stewardship, including local
field visitsManaging scope, schedule, and budget for tasks small to
mid-sized environmental and infrastructure construction
projectsEnvironmental Permitting SupportTask Management, Site
Support relative to ConstructionWorking closely with Sr. PM/SME/LSP
as a deputy performing scientific, financial, design and bid
document developmentBuilding strong client relationshipsClient and
regulatory correspondenceTechnical report writing and
reviewAnalyzes and applies solutions to atypical and/or
semi-complex and challenging issues within area of expertiseSupport
managing project financials to meet project goalsPreparing cost
estimates and proposalsWorking effectively with project teams,
clients, and all other stakeholdersCoordinating work schedules with
AECOM staff and subcontractorsResponsible for quality control of
tasksMentor project Jr. staffWill require some regional travel for
field visitsMay include the supervision of junior level staffFully
qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories,
practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions
to a wide range of difficult problems.Requires general familiarity
within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects
of the work upon other disciplines/fields.Interprets and records
data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and
local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.Works
under only general direction. Independently determines and develops
approach to solutions.Solves problems by use of combinations of
standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or
methods developed in previous assignments.Participates in planning
required to achieve prescribed objectives.Conducts analysis and
investigation work obtained from a variety of sources.Performs
inspections and tests to ensure compliance.Participates in
developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates
hypothesis, performs research and makes
recommendation.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:BA/BA plus 4
years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of
experience and/or education.40-Hour HAZWOPER Training Supervisory
experienceMBTA ROW Safety TrainingValid Driver's License and as a
condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle
Records review.Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is
required.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in
Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or closely related
field is preferred7 years of experience in environmental
consultingExperience working for clients in the public
infrastructure and transportation sectorExperience working with
Massachusetts environmental regulations.Railroad Worker Protection
Training (including compliance with FRA, FTA)Additional

position requires weekly regional travelThis position requires both
office and field work; the successful candidate should expect to be
in the field meeting with clients, contractors, and on occasion
mentoring junior staff. Field work may be performed at project
sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater,
surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous
substances and/or hazardous wastes. Construction tasks could
include monitoring active construction for conformance with design
plans and specifications as well as state regulations
(environmental, building, plumbing, electrical, etc).Offered
compensation will be based on location and individual
qualifications. The expected range is $78,619.00 -
