- Game Development/Immersive MediaDescriptionThe Department of
Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College invites applications for a
full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Game
Development and Immersive Media. The Department seeks an innovative
and dedicated educator and practitioner whose skill sets
include:
- Primary expertise in game development using such engines as
Unity and Unreal;
- Ability to produce a variety of content-driven VR/XR
projects;
- Ability to create virtual assets;
- Interest in exploring related fields such as VR production.In
addition to robust technical skills, the successful candidate will
possess demonstrated knowledge of how games/immersive
experiences/storytelling are used to create meaning, to educate and
entertain. Successful candidates will also understand the role of
play through a broader lens of interaction and user experience
design. The appointment begins August 22, 2024 with a mandatory
2-day orientation August 22 & 23, 2024.Emerson College believes the

candidate will be a dedicated educator and active practitioner
with:
- College-level teaching experience or comparable professional
teaching experience;
- A record of innovative creative and/or professional work;
- A master's level degree in art/media, or a terminal degree in a
field related to game/immersive media development, or significant
professional experience comparable to a terminal
degree.Responsibilities:Responsibilities include:
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in game development
and emerging media within the Visual and Media Arts department on
our Boston campus;
- Strengthening, revising, and augmenting VMA curriculum based on
own research in development for VR/XR, game design, and/or
interactive media;
- Academic advising and student mentorship;
- Service to the department, college, and profession.The
Department seeks candidates who can contribute to the scope and

engagement with students both inside and outside of the classroom
in addition to pursuing scholarship, teaching, and service.
